THE MAIN STAGE WITH LIVE MUSIC (included in all ticket purchases) with Jim Byrnes & special guest Dr. Lindsay Mitchell

Saturday, May 4, 2019 | 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM

At age sixty-nine, Jim Byrnes has recorded a career milestone, which, given his history with numerous Juno Awards and Maple Blues Awards, among many other accolades, is saying a lot. He's been winning over audiences with his instantly recognizable gruff as sandpaper, and soulful sweet as honey vocals for more than fifty years now. It’s difficult to remember that this quintessentially Canadian icon was raised in St. Louis and that his was not always an essential part of the country’s musical landscape.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

2014 Maple Blues Awards (Best Male Vocalist — I Hear The Wind in the Wires) 2011 Juno winner (Blues Album of the Year — Everywhere West) 2011 Western Canadian Music Awards nominee (Blues Album of the Year - Everywhere West) 2010 Western Canadian Music Awards Winner (Blues Album of the Year — My Walking Stick) 2006 Juno Award winner (Blues Album of the Year — House of Refuge) 2006 Canadian Folk Music Award winner (Best Contemporary Singer — House of Refuge) 2006 Canadian Folk Music Award winner (Producer / Steve Dawson — House of Refuge) 2006 Maple Blues Awards 2-time winner (Recording of the Year — House of Refuge) 2006 Maple Blues Awards 2-time winner (Best Male Vocalist — House of Refuge) and so many more!

Lindsay Mitchell began his career in the mid 1960s as lead guitarist and songwriter with the notorious Vancouver-based rock band the Seeds of Time. His 1969 composition  My Home Town (Coast Records) was a nationwide hit. In 1977 he formed the multiple Juno Award winning group PRiSM (GRT Capitol) for whom he composed numerous multi-gold and platinum hits including Armageddon, Young & Restless, and A Night to Remember.

Along the way he has shared the stage with a host of rock celebrities: Rod Stewart, Tom Jones, the Byrds, Meatloaf, Heart, Roy Orbison, kd lang, and AC/DC just to name a few. He has also performed with many blues and R&R legends: T-Bone Walker, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Del Shannon, Willie Dixon, Pinetop Perkins, Big Joe Duskin, Albert Collins, and many more. But the musical memories he holds most dear involve old friends: the late Billy Cowsill and Long John Baldry, and celebrated BC bluesmen Kenny Wayne and Jim Byrnes.
