Event Notes

× FOURTH ANNUAL COMMUNITY SITE EVENT

BC Hydro and InPower BC, the project contractor, are pleased to invite you to the fourth and final John Hart Generating Station Replacement Project community event – a unique annual opportunity to see the new facility before it is commissioned in October. This year you will be able to go underground to see the powerhouse.

Come and see the conclusion of this exciting legacy project for Campbell River and BC Hydro!

Must get tickets in advance

New this year is the tickets. In past years there were no tickets and it was first come, first serve to get on a bus to the project site. This time we are going underground and we expect a lot of interest. The limited 1,240 tickets will be available July 11 through the Tidemark Theatre via their web site, phone or walk-in box office. The ticket cost is $5 and all proceeds will go to North Island College’s apprenticeship scholarship program.

Tickets must be presented to board one of the 31 bus trips. The buses will leave Shoppers Row, directly in front of Spirit Square and across from the Tidemark Theatre, beginning at 9:30 a.m. and running every 10 minutes until 2:30 p.m. Your ticket will indicate what time your bus will depart. The bus will depart precisely at the time on your ticket. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to allow time for boarding.

Logistics and safety

The buses will travel to the John Hart site where people will walk down a large tunnel, through the powerhouse, and then be bused out of another large tunnel and travel back downtown. The project team will have a tour guide on each bus. The tour is expected to take about 70 minutes from start to finish.

Construction activity will be shut down for this event so people can walk around the safety defined areas. All ticket holders must be 10 years of age and older. Given the site slope conditions and stairs there are no mobility accommodations; no wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, and similar devices are allowed. There is some walking so people need to be mobile. Sturdy footwear is required.

The John Hart project team is looking forward to seeing you on September 16!

Tickets: $5 (all proceeds go to North Island College’s apprenticeship scholarship program) SOLD OUT!

If you have tickets, and find that you are not able to attend, please return your tickets to the Tidemark Box Office for a full refund. We have an extensive waiting list who would greatly appreciate it!

Please note: Buses will depart precisely at the time on your ticket. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to allow time for boarding.
