The Jacquie Gordon Memorial Endowment Fund is held in trust with the Campbell River Community Foundation in honor of Tidemark Theatre Society founding member Jacquie Gordon. Your donation contributes to the principal fund which will provide legacy funding  to the Tidemark Theatre Society in support of ongoing operations in perpetuity.

Jacqueline (Jacquie) Gordon loved the arts, in all their facets, and loved youth. While raising 3 children with her husband Dr. Robert Gordon, she started designing and making costumes for Dance Schools and Community Theatre. There was always the issue of “where are we going to present shows & concerts both local and touring.” The Campbell River Concert series was bringing in 4 / 5 touring shows every year from all over the world including the Mini Bolshoi Ballet company - which performed at the Carihi gymnasium in front of bed sheets for a backdrop - this was a turning point for Jacquie.

In the 80’s, she was Culture consultant to City Council and she was able to get the city to buy the Van Isle Theatre. With the help of many like-minded arts people, the theatre was revamped as a working stage with a gallery in the lobby. Although she retired as the first Manager in the late 80’s, she continued to be the touchstone or go-to for subsequent administrations.

Prior to her death in Dec 2021, she was excited about the Tidemark’s future - even amid Covid - she was able to remotely “go to the theatre.” This Endowment Fund has a great start and with your continued help, it will ensure that future.

Through our Theatre Angels Program, we make tickets available to individuals and families in our community who would not otherwise be able to attend performances. This increases exposure to the arts and promotes the inclusiveness of the theatre, as well as reaching children in poverty who would not otherwise have access to the arts. In order to respect the anonymity of the recipients, the tickets are given to non-profit, charitable organizations within our community for distribution.
